You might have received messages or seen this on popular social media, a message saying that 5G technology is spreading coronavirus. However, these messages are fake, and the scientific community dismissed any such claims.
People uploaded on social media videos showing 5G towers on fire Birmingham and Merseyside saying that 5G technology is not safe. But a person with an even simple understanding of science would take only a few minutes to realize that any relation between 5G and coronavirus is not possible under any circumstance.
NHS England Medical Director, Stephen Powis, says that these are “the worst kind of fake news.”
Even though the claim is bogus, people are trying to give logic as to how 5G makes you susceptible to coronavirus. Some people claim that the frequency used by 5G technology is hindering the functioning of our immune system and putting people at a threat. On the other hand, a small group is saying that 5G signals carry the virus.
As expected, experts such as Dr. Simon Clarke, associate professor in cellular microbiology at the University of Reading, have called out these claims as bogus.
“The idea that 5G lowers your immune system doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Your immune system can be dipped by all sorts of thing – by being tired one day, or not having a good diet.Dr Simon Clarke, Associate Professor in cellular microbiology at the University of Reading
Those fluctuations aren’t huge but can make you more susceptible to catching viruses. Radio waves can disrupt your physiology as they heat you up, meaning your immune system can’t function.
But 5G radio waves are tiny and they are nowhere near strong enough to affect the immune system. There have been lots of studies on this.”
EM waves of certain frequencies might indeed hamper with the functioning of your immune system, but Radio waves used in communication don’t fall in this category, he added.
Another Doctor, Adam Finn, explicitly stated that the disease is transmitted from person to person, and the way EM waves transmit messages are entirely different. Simply put, this comparison is like comparing a cricket ball to an orange as both are round in shape
This news is also spreading at places where 5G technology doesn’t even exist, such as cities in the UK, Iran, etc. Stories about the harmful effects of 5G have been going on for quite a while, and the waves transmit coronavirus is just a new addition to the list.
