The movie is set in the late 1970s and takes place in Palasa village in Srikakulum. The region is infamous for the deep-rooted caste system, and Pedda Savukaru (aka Linga Murthy) is the head of the region. He relies on the strength of Bairagi to exert his power physically and is mentally deceptive. He is in a quarrel with his brother, Chinna Savukaru (aka Guru Murthy), and due to this, Guru Murthy is forced out of the village.
Mohan Rao and Ranga Rao are brothers belonging to a lower caste. Ranga and Mohan are like the brains and the brawns and are in constant quarrel with Tarakesu (the son of Linga Murthy). During one such act of violence, the Rao brothers break Tarakesu’s legs. This incident angers Linga Murthy, who orders his muscle man, Bairagi, to kill the brothers.
Faced with certain death, Mohan Rao takes up the challenge and manages to slay Bairagi. Seeing this incident, Guru Murthy realises that he can rely on Rao brothers to get back at Linga Murthy. The story of the movie is based on the exploits of the brothers and the movie doesn’t shy away from depicting the reality of the events from that era.
