Anu Menon’s upcoming film, featuring Vidya Balan, Shakuntala Devi: The Human Computer, is premiering in July. The film has now been slated exclusively for a digital release on Prime Video followed by a satellite premiere.
The biopic is about Shakuntala Devi, the unsung Indian Hero, 1923-2013, was the most famous mnemonist of India. She could perform long & complex mathematical operations mentally. Due to her prodigious talent, she was popularly known as the “Human Computer”.
Shakuntala Devi was an author who was well-known for her mental calculation prowess. Her mental calculation ability got her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1982.
The upcoming film, Shakuntala Devi: The Human-Computer, features Vidya Balan in the role of the titular character. She is supported by Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh, who appear in important roles in the film.
The filming of Shakuntala Devi’s biopic began in September 2019 and was finished by November 2019. Initially, the producers planned to release the film in theatres on 8th May 2020. However, the release was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and the moviemakers decided to go with a digital release.
The digital rights for Shakuntala Devi: The Human Computer was sold to Amazon. Now, Amazon has officially announced that it will release the biopic on its streaming platform, Prime Video, on 15th July.
