Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj is coming to Disney+Hotstar soon, but the producers of his other movie, Maidaan, are planning to release the film in theatres. Unlike other producers who are putting their films on streaming platforms to curb their losses, Boney Kapoor will wait for the theatres to reopen.
In an interview, Boney Kapoor said that all the films that he made till now were released on the big screen, and he is not going to release a film on a digital platform anytime soon.
“These are extraordinary times that none of us globally have witnessed before. Talking about the movies, if a certain producer is ready with his/her film and can’t afford to wait (for the situation to settle and reopening of theatres), the OTT platforms can be a big blessing for them as they can easily recover costs,” said Kapoor
Maidaan is a biopic of Syed Abdul Rahim, a football coach who lead the Indian football team to the semi-final round of 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Ajay Devgn will play the role of Syed, who is also known as the Architect of Football. The film will also feature Priyamani in a prominent role.
If there are no further delays due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Maidaan will come out on 27 November 2020.
