Big Boss the 13th season has finally arrived on Colors. Hosted by the evergreen Salman Khan, this time it is a strict entry for celebrities only. The option of entry of commoners as contestants has been ditched in Big Boss 13. The idea had been floated in the last two seasons but now the showrunners are restricting the competition to stardom status. The hype and speculations around Big Boss, its contestants, BB13 house, host, contest have been laid to rest with the launch on 29th September. Let us do a fact check on the career, love story, controversies around one of the 13 fortunate contestants – Abu Malik.
Abu Malik, the oldest contestant in Bigg Boss 13, and is the younger brother of popular music composer Anu Malik. He has performed as a show organizer and acted in a few films, including Salman Khan-starrer Jab Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. He has also claimed to produce and perform in nearly 10,000 shows worldwide. He has authored a book called Rantings of a Mad Man. He is the father of the popular standup comedian and budding actor, Aadar Malik and uncle to Armaan and Amaal Malik. Though not prolific has his brothers Anu Malik and Daboo Malik, he has composed songs for only two movies in his career – the Hinglish flick American Blend, and the comedy flick, Bad Luck Govind.
Though he is the oldest, he feels he is the youngest at heart and has claimed that he will win Salman Khan’s show. Though he did not perform well on the launch episode of the show but he definitely has great plans for the duration of the contest.
“Abu Malik is going to win this show. They say many confidences break when you get inside the house. But it doesn’t matter. Let me be confident till I go inside the house and I’ll see how it is later on,” he said in an interview to Times Now.
Answering a question related to his decision of being part of the show, he said, “I love the show. It’s enjoyable and fun all the way. Some of the contestants have done a great job. Last to last season, those two girls did a very good job on the show (Shilpa Shinde and Hina Khan from Bigg Boss 11). Vindhoo [Dara Singh] has done a very good job and Puneet [Issar], too did a very good job. They were in for so many days. It is a tough job to be out there amidst all the quarrel and all this pressure on you. It’s unbelievable. People have told me there is a lot of pressure.”
Abu is also mentally prepared to face all the questions inside Bigg Boss 13 house including the #Metoo controversy of Anu Malik.
“I know they will talk about it. Why won’t they talk? They will also talk bad things about me, about him. So many things will be talked about, I’ll handle them. Depending on what context it is put in front of me, I’ll put it in place properly. It would be wrong for people to start piggybacking on my family’s name behind me. I am a very big personality in my own right. I have done over 10,000 shows with every actor in this country,” he said in the interview.
Unlike his elder brother, Abu has steered away from any controversies and conversations. But will Bigg Boss 13 change that? Let’s wait and watch!
